Identifying unique authors in Medline: the guided approach
Medline is the NLM’s premier database containing over 11.5M article citations and about 2,000 are added daily.
Each article has the author names coded by last name, first name initial, and sometimes middle name initial.
Example problem: t_suzuki appears on over 6,200 articles. How many unique authors are there, and who is who?
